This 'I Love You So' video from French duo Cassius, Philippe Zdar and Hubert Blanc-Francart, is one of the first blatant examples of the global influence of the iPhone. There are no limits. It's no longer just about music. It's about the Apps! Many you can get for free others come with a price-tag but it seems their existence is increasingly becoming more and more relevant.
And judging by this video no one knows this more than Ed Banger and 'I Love You So' video directors We Are From L.A.
And the video ain't lyin', if you want the Cassius App click here.
It's all about Supply and Demand. Heck Apple didn't have to do a thing! When a brand doesn't even have to lift a finger you know they have brand power! Fortunately the Rawkers EP track 'I Love You So', and the video are both entertaining and creative (less is more people, unless you're Kanye West) thus avoiding being overshadowed by Job's iPhone. Spot the Ed Banger crew in the video!
Roxy Music founding members Brian Eno & Bryan Ferry can both lay claim to releasing solo endeavours before the end of 2010. Byran Ferry's Olympia was released on the 25 October while Eno's 'Small Craft on a Milk Sea' will be released a month later. Synonymous with partying and younger models the artwork of Ferry's Olympia is none other than a photo of an overexposed Kate Moss wearing little more than a silk sheet and diamonds.
His album has been slated by the Guardian Online who described it as little more than "background music" and while Brian Eno's 'Small Craft on a Milk Sea' garners a more positive praise it's still short of victorious.
For something a little more enjoyable check out the 1970s video for 'Berlin Horse'. The visuals were created by Malcolm Le Grice while the sound loop was mastered by Brian Eno.

Cecile & Venice are two Italian producers with a penchant for string synths, 80s electro and a head boppin' beat. Check out 'Rimmel' it's a little more nu-disco than their pervious stuff including Requiem and White Holes. Check 'em out here.
After supporting The Cure at the NME Shockwave Awards Crystal Castles and Robert Smith decided to collaborate. What was born was a remake of the groups 'Not in Love'; a track off their second album.
You may or may not have heard of RYE RYE. The 19-year-old singer/dancer is an M.I.A protegee and 'Sunshine' (feat M.I.A) is the first single from her 2011 album Go! Pop! Bang! RYE RYE also appeared in M.I.A's 2007 Paper Planes. The video was directed by Jess Holzworth.
In case you weren't aware Sade is coming back to the stage MAY OF 2011! She'll be playing Manchester (27/05), Birmingham (28/05) and London (29/05) and tickets have already gone on sale!!!
Twin Shadow is George Lewis Jnr. and he's one of the latest signees to Terrible Records. A label founded by Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor. The debut FORGET was produced by Taylor and scrutinised by George Lewis Jnr., over a period of many months, in his Brooklyn apartment. The end result is something that appears less hifi but is so much more than lofi. It's synth, drum machine, tamborines et al.
And yes, that is indeed Mr Lewis Jnr. appearing in his own pseudo-soft porn vid.
The Hundred in the Hands are not another boy / girl duo from Brooklyn. Ok well literally they are but it's the stigma attached to it that they're not too interested in. And for good reason!
Baths is one man band Will Wiesenfeld from California. He'll be embarking on his Euro tour on 7 Nov starting at the UK's Forum. Think Coco Rosie meets Gold Panda! Listen & buy his debut Cerulean here.
It's not the best quality. Phone videos never are. Whadda ya want from me?!? Here is some footage from Berlin's Levis party at Maria Ostbahnhof. Never really thought Kelis would be a good performer but boy was I wrong. And damn she is looking good post-baby.
Since moving to Berlin my ears have been pretty busy. From of Montreal, Shout Out Louds, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin et al. it's been crazy awesome. Though it wasn't until Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti show that my mind was really blow into a million psyched out pieces.
What a performer. I mean the guy totally puts on a show. Dude ain't even that weird. Meeting him before the show I was surprised to see him during. He acted completely disabled. Was it just the music taking over? Was it involuntary reactions? Or just all of the above? Who the hell cares. All I know is that those baggy long johns had way too much extra room. It was definitely 'wang-ten' up at the front row.
To cut to the chase. Ariel + band are making their way over to London to perform a secret show at CATCH bar on 2 Nov at 7pm. Tickets are only £5 and there are no advance tickets!!! GET THERE EARLY.
Definitely in my top 5 shows. Hopefully Geneva Jacuzzi will be gracing the stage prior to her bf's stage time. Geneva was originally in Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti before he had to kick her out for being tardy. In our interview she confirmed that this was anything but a hindrance to their relationship.
This French collective known as LE LE have got the beats down. The above song Breakfast is mind blowing and the visuals are thanks to Dutch skateboarder, artist, illustrator and all-round entrepreneur Parra.
The Suzan is a Japanese/US girl group that worked on their debut with none other than Swede Peter Bjorn from Peter Bjorn and John. Not bad. Not band at all. You can definitely hear PB&J vibes in song 'Home'.
Sometimes HYPE works as a deterrent. It was not until I interviewed Is Tropical's Simon Milner, that I realised just how worthy these East London lads were.
Swedish band Shout Out Loud are currently on their European tour promoting third album 'WORK'. The title is meant to represent an embracing of the thing they love and less appear a begrudging statement. This time around the band decided they wanted to strip away a lot of the dramatic sound they had in sophomore 'Our Ill Will' and as a result they decided to work with producer Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, Band of Horses, The Shins). Their last two records were produced by Peter Bjorn and John's Björn Yttling, though for 'Work' they were very adament about working with a non-Swedish producer.
Today I'll be interviewing the Stolkholm band prior to their show in Berlin.
Here's a mini-doco about the process of creating 'WORK'
This is the artwork for the impending 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' by Kanye West.
After being told the album would be banned from being sold at Wal-mart he retaliated with: “In all honesty. I really don’t be thinking about Wal-Mart when I make my music or album covers".
The cover was illustrated by artist George Condo, who also created the cover for single, Power.
'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' will be released on 22 Nov.
Interview with bassist Tom Flemming from Kendal band WILD BEASTS. Their music may woo you their own lyrics off stage may not.."We have to be the best kind of fantasy we can be!" Check the whole interview here.
Seriously don't know where I'd be without my friends and their amazing posts on Facebook and Twitter. This mix is by my friend Julien Artur. It's a whole bag of goodies with Flying Lotus, Jimmy Edgar, Scuba and Joy Orbison!
Rumours are rife over a secret Guns 'N' Roses show at Camden's Dingwalls tonight! Unfortunately nothing can be confirmed but you might kick yourself if you don't head down there tonight! The band are in London after playing last night at the 02 Arena.
Alec is from Ithaca, NY and makes up all of BALAM ACAB. Since Alec could be either a male or female name I'm not going to assume either is correct. Instead I will direct you to the above video. Not only is the music amazing but so are the visuals. Sort of Devendra Banhart vibe going on!
Levi's are traveling throughout Germany (first Berin, Hamburg, Munich, Vienna and then Zurich) and throwing parties here and there and EVERYWHERE. Special guests including Mark Ronson, Kelis and rising start Natalia Kills.
Can't wait to see Kelis. If she doesn't do the Milkshake song I probably won't be very happy which in turn will lead to a lot of other people's (likely to be those nearest) unhappiness.
Check out this awesome German punk-pop-electro outfit HERPES. They're doin' a mini tour of Germany so if you're in one of the following cities listed on their Myspace go stand up front and give them their due respect. They'll be playing at Berlin's White Trash Fast Food on the evening of October 15.
Lovin' WHITE CAR especially their tune NO BETTER it seriously reminisces back to Weird Science days. The duo are from Chicago, Illinois and sound nothing like Sufjan Stevens!
Due to an unknown illness Beat Konducta MADLIB was unable to make it to his Berlin show but that didn't stop Berlin support act EMBRYO from throwing a party for the release of their album (a whopping 3o euro) at Monarch. It was a great crowd and the collective played for at least 2.5 hours. Great night!
Due to a serious 'unknown' illness MADLIB will not be performing in Berlin tonight. Those who have bought tickets can get their money back from the ticket seller.
This was actually quite a few months ago but it is no less relevant. The Klaxons premiere their new album 'Surfing the Void' and crack out the classics. The picture quality doesn't even have to be good to appreciate this one! Review here.
Wow. You'll never see or hear a lady who can spit lyrics like this one. Kate Tempest is a pure bred Londoner. Her words are meaningful and relevant all the while backed by the resounding bass and the tinkering drums. Here she is playing with her band The Sound of Rum. Their album is coming out imminently on Sunday Best. Interview coming soon!
Avant-garde pop collective of Montreal graced the stage of Berlin's Admiralspalast Studios for a fun fueled 1.5 hour music session with dance, theatre and costumes to boot! Your eyes and ears stood to attention as Kevin Barnes bounced across the stage; kissing pigs (or those dressed like pigs) and screaming soprano into the mic. Prior to the gig I interviewed the frontman and founder about his 10th release 'False Priest' and got an insight into his intentions to create an album (co-produced by Jon Brion - of Kanye West fame-) channeling r'n'b, rapper-esque tendencies. The self-proclaimed 'downer' is probably one of the most introverted artists I've ever interviewed. Known for his outlandish and hedonistic stage performances, you definitely wouldn't think so. Click here to see one of his most outlandish and shocking 'costume changes'. NSFW.
Danish band Who Made Who are set to play Berlin's Ritter Butze Thursday 07 October. They've been around since 2003 and cite their turning point that day at 2007'S Benicassim when they acted as a last minute replacement for no-show band The Klaxons.
Their second album 'The Plot' was released in 2009 and "Keep Me On My Plane" is off the 13-track album!
Maps & Atlases are a 4-piece band from Chicago and they'll be gracing Cargo's Stage on 12 October. Think Sufjan Stevens, Kings Of Leon (but better) et al.

Gonjasufi's debut album "A Sufi & a Killer" was co-produced by Gaslamp Killer and Flying Lotus. It showcases the Cali-based songwriter and artist's unorthodox vocals, which sound gruff-like, raw and harsh. The 19-track record is an eclectic sound that marries bleeps, squelches and static. But my god does it work!
Where does TV On The Radio's Dave Sitek get the time? I mean seriously. His finger prints are everywhere - the boy don't stop! The super producer has worked with everyone in the music industry from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Liars and even lesbian duo Telepathe. Well Maximum Balloon is his new project that was released at the beginning of September. For this album the NY producer decided to move to sunny LA where'd he'd gather a bevy of bands and musicians - 10 to be exact - in order to create this collaborative effort. Apparently it was a natural move; after enlisting the help of artist Aku Aku on song 'Tiger' Sitek decided the other nine tracks should hold the some steez. Et voila Maximum Balloon was born. Artists include Talking Head's David Byrne, YYY's Karen O (of course), Theophilus London and Swedish hot property Little Dragon.
I have no idea how trustworthy this information is but it's interesting none the less. Vampire Weekend make more money than B-Beyonce? Hell no? You'd have never have thought, right?
The information has come directly from sarcastic meme-site Hipster Runoff. Verifiable info? Hmm.
Jazz maestro HERBIE HANCOCK is one of the many talented musicians on Heidelberg's "Enjoy Jazz' lineup and he'll be preforming on 18/11/2010. Tickets start at 40E and are almost sold out !!! Tickets here. Can't wait for WATERMELON MAN!
As much as Berlin is all about the minimal scene (hello Watergate & Panorama) the Deutschland capital also fosters a great hip hop vibe!
Not surprising, really, considering how laid back the city is.
Come 13 October 2010 producer and hip hop extraordinaire MADLIB (he's worked with all the greats including Mos Def) will be gracing the stage of venue Festaal Kreuzberg. Tix ain't cheap but you can be sure it'll be a night that transcends time and space. HELL YEA!
I am more than prone to monologues; however, this is solely due to the manner in which they compliment a witty anecdote and their ability to resemble concrete evidence when it is so obviously lacking.
I often wish I could emulate that aloof character who coolly stands in the corner smiling mysteriously as if she has a secret. However, I fear resisting the temptation to involve myself in other people’s conflicts and responding through body language rather than verbose banter may come across as contrived and arrogant. And, I am not willing to take that chance.
